Chemmy Alcott and The Arctic V prepare to smash another world record

By Vicky Anscombe

***We're pleased and proud to announce that Chemmy and the gang officially smashed the Guinness World Record on Friday, February 13. Read all about their record-breaking activities here.***

The Arctic V are hoping to smash another world record - but this time, they've given themselves the ultimate challenge.

Chemmy, Adam, Chris, Max and Richard are potentially heading to Hyde Park on February 13 at 1pm, and they’ll be attempting to break the record for the fastest ever mile on roller skis. There’s just one hitch, if you’ll pardon the pun - they’ll be trying to break the record while they’re tied together.

Yes, you read that right - the gang will be lashed together with bungee cord, so they’ll only be as fast as their slowest athlete.

The group are determined to achieve their first official Guinness World Record title (unofficially, they are holders of the farthest distance travelled on a static cross country machine in 24 hours - a challenge they achieved in Nov 2014 in Canary Wharf).

The challenge will be witnessed by an official at the Guinness Book of World Records, and The Arctic V will probably have a few tries at smashing the record - so this won’t be a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it affair. Why not come down, say hello, and watch them create a new world record?

To celebrate all their hard work, there’ll be a fundraiser and table tennis tournament held at Ping in Earl’s Court afterwards from 7pm - 2am. It costs just £5 to enter the table tennis tournament (8pm - 10pm), and £25 between three for entry into the beer bong tournament (10pm - midnight). They’ll also be a raffle with money-can’t-buy prizes, and you’ll get a free boozy ice slushie if you show us a text proving you've donated to Ski 4 Cancer.

The exact times and location will be revealed soon, and when we're able to confirm, you'll be the first to know.
