JOB TITLE: Business Analyst & Project Officer Permanent

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To work with stakeholders and the project manager to produce sufficiently detailed specifications for new systems enhancements to enable technical designs to be produced and to ensure consistent, high quality documentation across the insurance development programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support existing Business Analyst in the discovery of requirements for projects and systems.
• Document business requirements, functional specifications and test scripts for project sponsors to develop new applications, interfaces, and reports.
• Lead and assist in user acceptance testing for assigned projects.
• Advise and specify enhancements of current business systems to meet changing business needs and priorities.
• Analyse impact of new initiatives on existing operational systems and platforms.
• Raise project interdependencies, risks, and issues as identified to the project manager or stakeholder.
• Produce additional documentation as requested.
• Implement a standard document set and associated procedures as defined by the project team on the company WIKI, implemented on Confluence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE:

• IT background; Insurance background an advantage.
• Experience in application specification
• 3 years experience in a similar role
• Computer literate
• High level knowledge of internet technologies

JOB TITLE: Junior Database Administrator

LOCATION: Chichester, United Kingdom

COMPANY: Columbus Travel Insurance Services Limited

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Based within the Group Insurance Division, the primary duties include data reporting, the production of T-SQL scripts, query analysis and tuning and database development.

The role is new to the division, and one of the primary goals will be to assist the recently appointed Senior Database Administrator and Technical Team Leader to deliver tactical data projects and tasks. This role will also involve assisting the development team with making database changes and tuning queries.

The post is located with the IT development team in Chichester, West Sussex, supporting the contact centre and network operations team located in Croydon, Surrey. Project stakeholders are located in our London office, by Liverpool Street station.

Travel to other offices will be expected as dictated by the needs of each project but is expected to be minimal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To analyze and tune the performance of queries
• To ensure databases are properly documented using the standard tools within the group
• To assist developers to efficiently utilize the databases
• To develop data flow procedures and solutions
• To provide regular and concise status reports to the project manager
• To assist with researching potential solutions to meet business requirements
• To provide third line support for existing applications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

• Understanding of relational databases
• Technical skills a. Microsoft SQL Server b. T-SQL, stored procedures and triggers c. Query performance and tuning
• Ability to transfer knowledge and skill into different DBMS and development frameworks, particularly Open Source solutions
• An enthusiastic, positive attitude with a passion for maintaining an up to date working knowledge of database technologies

Desirable

• Good working knowledge of MS Windows operating systems
• An understanding on system data flow and data design
• Exposure to MySQL
• Exposure to .NET
• Experience gained in a structured environment, especially Agile development
• Insurance systems knowledge, preferably in a relevant industry sector (Personal Insurance)
