Aussois is one of the smaller resorts that you can find, but it still has plenty to offer if you are looking to get the most out of your skiing holiday.
It can be found in the Maurienne Valley in the south east of France, bordering with Italy.
Despite its small number of slopes, the resort still has a lot to keep you busy such as paragliding and its 230m zip wire.
Aussois Resort
Cross country skiing is also available between Aussois and Sardieres, which provides stunning scenery during your descent. There is also dog sledging, ice climbing and snow tubing if you are looking to do something different in the snowy weather.
The resort also has an hour of night skiing each Thursday evening for visitors looking to enjoy a unique skiing experience.

Aussois Ski Areas & Slopes
Aussois is particularly well suited for new skiers and beginners who are looking to take a step to the next level. If you are a more experienced skier, you can still find some red and black runs to offer you a challenge.

La Norma
The ski area often receives a good level of snowfall, while there are also facilities to create artificial snow to ensure that there is a good level of powder throughout the season.
Intermediate:: There are several blue and red runs to provide some challenging slopes for more experienced skiers. Many of them are above 2000m, providing longer routes.
Beginners: La Norma has many slopes that are suitable for new skiers, and many of them are near the main lift for the resort, making them easy to access. The snow conditions are good in most areas of the resort, making it an enjoyable experience wherever you decide to ski.
Val Cenis
This is a ski area that is best for beginners and intermediate skiers. You can travel past the many larch and pine trees, while enjoying high levels of snow.
Intermediate: Skiers who travel to the higher pistes in the area can find some of the more challenging slopes, while there are further red runs near Termignon.
Beginners: Several of the beginner slopes are quite long, including Escargot which covers six miles. This gives new skiers plenty of space to practice their skills before stepping up to more challenging pistes.
Balmes
There are some good options fir more experienced skiers, particularly on some of the black runs.
Advanced: The long trail takes you from 2750m down to the village at 1500m, offering a scenic route.
Ski Holidays in Aussois
Aussois Ski Passes
Ski lift prices vary depending on your age and how many days you plan to stay at the resort.
A one-day pass for adults is €32 while children cost €27.
A six-day pass for adults is €165 while children cost €139.
Family packages are also available for €568, and they cover two adults and two children for six days.
A cross country pass costs €8.50 for a day and €30.50 for six days for adults, while children under the age of 12 years can go for free. There is also a season ticket available for €42.
Ski Schools
One of the main ski schools in Aussois is ESF, which offers lessons beyond beginner training. This includes areas such as snowboarding, off piste, nordic and freestyle. You can get lessons as part of a group or privately, depending on what level of training you want to receive.
Equipment Hire
There are several stores at Aussois where you can hire ski equipment to use during your trip including Sport 2000, Leon Sports and Intersport Rent. It is often worth booking your equipment ahead of your holiday as many stores offer a discount online.
Family Fun in Aussois
Aussois is a very family friendly resort and has many slopes that are suitable for new skiers. It was also one of the first resorts to be certified Family Plus, because of its work to accommodate families.
There are many activities that children can get involved with, keeping them busy even when they step away from the snow. There are animals to see in the world, as well as donkey and horse rides to take part in.
The resort also has an ice-skating rink, as well as airbags to ride along the snow and snow tubing to enjoy the slides as a family.
The Peak Retreats ski school offers lessons for young skiers, while children aged 10 and over can also learn to snowboard.
There are also pathways for those with pushchairs that make it easy for you to get to the centre of the village.
