The Plaza Premium Lounge in London Heathrow's Terminal 2 has been awarded the Priority Pass Global Airport Lounge of the Year Award.

Now in its twelfth year, the awards are based on ratings provided by Priority Pass Members and are said to recognise excellence within the world’s largest independent lounge membership programme that includes over 1,000 airport lounges in over 500 cities.

According to Priority Pass, the winning 8,100 square metre lounge combines sleek interior design and contemporary British culture.

Standout features, it says, include a ceiling centrepiece which holds Great Britain’s Union Jack flag, private bedrooms, luxurious shower rooms and a Wellness Spa created with the global traveller in mind.

Plaza Premium Lounge was also the global winner in the Best Quality of Refreshments category with its signature Chicken Tikka Masala dish proving very popular amongst frequent flyers.
